KinderCare is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our systems operations team - responsible for the support of servers, IT support applications, business applications, cybersecurity, storage and AWS cloud services.

The successful candidate will be an upbeat self-starter with experience working remotely to maintain systems in a production environment. A positive can-do attitude is essential along with a highly developed desire for continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Engineer solutions to ensure all critical systems are monitored with the goal of reducing downtime and performance degradation

  • Automate routine user account administration to improve efficiency in responding to account administration requests

  • Ensure system versions are continuously reviewed and updated

  • Initiate and support in the development of activities and technologies aimed at improving our security posture

  • Improve productivity of the IT Operations Team by automating routine tasks

  • Initial triage and ownership of all IT systems problems, escalating to other IT groups when appropriate

  • Follow up on all IT incidents to ensure they have been satisfactorily resolved

  • Create, update and curate IT Operations runbooks

  • Communicate in written and verbal forms to all levels of the organization on service issues and plans

  • Collaborate with service providers and external vendors on root cause analysis for problems related to technology

  • Clearly document technology plans and implementation to facilitate the efficient support of the environment

  • Perform on-call duties as needed to support technology services to business

Qualifications


  • 3 or more years in a Systems Engineer role focused on Microsoft technologies

  • Formal Industry certifications or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with AWS Webservices Platform, Infrastructure as Code technologies & IT security tools - Log aggregation, File integrity Monitoring

  • Experience working with Virtual Technology. ESXi VMware Server administration and monitoring

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to solve sophisticated systems problems quickly with little technical guidance

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive positive outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to implement business-driven solutions in a complex environment

  • Ability to write scripts using PowerShell and Python

  • Solid grasp of basic networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SNMP and IP Subnetting

  • Familiarity with basic network infrastructure components, such as routers, switches, firewalls.

  • Knowledge of Windows NTFS permissions and AD user & computer administration.

  • Understanding basic IT security concepts such as prevention, detection, and response.

  • Ability to self-manage and deliver based on objective.

  • Ability to be an effective team player
