Commercial Loan Specialist at First Federal Savings Bank

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   


  • Set-up and maintain active workflow folders for new and on-going loans as directed by CLOs and Credit Analysts.

  • Assist with the completion of loan applications/loan files including, but not limited to:

    • Requests/orders/reviews a variety of documentation in support of the lending request such as credit reports, flood determinations, property appraisals/evaluations, environmental reports, OFAC, etc.

    • Conduct preliminary research such as UCC lien searches, property information, etc.

    • Verifies customer identification and prepares related documentation as required by/for regulatory and compliance purposes.

    • Review and update RMS records/ Beneficial Ownership Certifications for completeness and accuracy.

    • Work within Loan Origination software with the set-up and/or review existing loan requests.

    • Review files and application checklists for missing application/underwriting documentation; notifies CLOs and Credit Analysts of any missing documentation and prepares draft Compliance Certification.

    • Work with CLOs, Credit Analysts, peers, and other parties to coordinate timely closings and that all required documentation is received.

    • Generate loan closing documents in compliance with applicable regulations.

    • Prepare and send loan documents to borrowers or title company



  • Ensure loan documentation, financials, etc. are signed and imaged appropriately

  • Work with the Processors to complete loan file maintenance to include tracking and monitoring for all related file documentation so that files are completed in a timely manner

  • Effectively work to collect pending documentation and follow up on title policies, recorded deeds of trust, vehicle titles and any other items requiring attention including maintaining the tickler systems

  • Work within Construction management software to set-up, track, balance, process construction draws and inspections

  • Assist in tracking inventory on builder guidance lines to ensure loans are within the approved parameters

  • Provides support to the others as needed in processing customer payments and/or advance requests, correct payment errors, provide accurate payoff requests, complete telephone transfers, etc., as assigned at that branch level.

  • Answering customers questions on their accounts about payments or other activity on their commercial loans at that branch location

  • Obtain new or renewed insurance documents to document collateral has current insurance coverage and work with 3rd party Insurance vendor to assist in accuracy of insurance tracking reports.

  • Performs clerical duties (filing, copying, scanning, email/mail correspondence, etc.) related to the lending function.

  • Follow all bank policies and procedures.

  • Perform all job duties and maintain compliance with all banking acts, laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist with processing monthly draws, which also includes all draw details are sent to imaging

  • Provides backup for other areas of the department as needed.

 Qualifications Required

(Required education may be satisfied by experience and/or working knowledge)

A High School diploma or equivalent.  Intermediate level knowledge of Word, Excel, & Outlook to include data entry and the ability to construct simple formulas and format spreadsheets.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Sitting for extended periods of time, requires close visual acuity and the ability to work and operate computer applications and equipment including copy machine, telephone, scanner or other basic business equipment.  Some travel is required for facilitating sales calls, meeting with customers and collateral inspections.  The job is within the normal office environment range.

Qualifications Preferred

Associates degree and two years of banking experience.  An advanced level knowledge of Word, Excel, & Outlook to include data entry and the ability to construct intermediate-level formulas and format spreadsheets.
