Work Schedule

This is a full-time, 100% FTE day shift position. Shifts are scheduled Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00AM – 5:00PM, no weekends required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. 

Pay:

We are seeking an Optician (ABO, NCLE) to:


  • Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

  • Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses.

  • Perform eye-glass repairs and adjustments.

  • Educate patients and families on proper eye-wear care.

Education:

Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred – 


  • Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program

  • Some continued education courses.

Work Experience:

Minimum –


  • Computer experience required.

  • Previous eye care experience

Preferred –


  • One or more years optician experience

  • Lab training or experience preferred

  • Contact lens training or experience preferred

  • Optical lab experience and/or optometric technician experience

  • One or more years of work experience with processing insurance claims

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Obtain ABO Certification within 18-months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire, and maintain the certification.

Preferred – American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and/or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification
