Role description:

The Senior Water & Hydraulic Engineer will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of hydraulics, collection system planning, and computer modeling, combined with data analytics as part of our local project teams developing innovative solutions throughout the region. Role accountabilities:

This role will apply leadership skills and expertise in all aspects of developing wastewater collection system models, stormwater models, and system master plans to guide technical project teams. Additionally, this role will perform engineering activities for wastewater system hydraulics, including flow monitoring studies, hydraulic and hydrologic model development, master plans, regulatory support and feasibility studies.

Other responsibilities include:


  • Assist with wastewater conveyance systems and asset management data analytics.
  • Develop and review technical reports for projects, including technical project report organization, authoring, and coordination.
  • Provide technical expertise on existing and new design and modeling projects.
  • Develop and lead client presentations of work progress and collaboration across a wide range of client roles.
  • Assist others with defining scope of work and objectives and developing pursuits through a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by having regular participation with industry Associations, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
  • Exercise independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Ensures project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.
  • Some travel will be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) PE License, or ability to obtain PE license in 1 year of hire.
  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling (SWMM and/or ICM experience expected) of wastewater and stormwater collection systems.
  • Experience with GIS

Key Attributes

  • Deep understanding of wastewater hydraulic modeling and master planning project development, project execution, and requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; skills to include - public speaking, ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and with clients and for the preparation/development of technical documents.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environment Engineering or related field of study.
  • Project delivery experience as a Planning / Technical Lead, with budgeting, schedule monitoring, client management and project controls.
  • Computer programming experience with Power BI or Python.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
