ABOUT THE ROLE

As an essential member of the high-performing Global Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability team, the Manager, Global Issues Management is responsible for strengthening SC Johnson's corporate reputation. Reporting to the Global Media Relations and Issues Management Director, the person in this role will have an innate ability to foresee wide-ranging issues on the horizon and communicate those to a cross-functional team. In this role, you wil dig into the issues ecosphere and keep a pulse on many topics at once, without getting overwhelmed. We're looking for someone who can take complex problems and boil them down into succinct messaging for internal and external stakeholders and not be afraid to quickly share their counsel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Craft quick, clear, and expert messaging for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Leverage trade association relationships to better understand the issues CPG companies face.

  • Spot issue trends and appropriately escalate and counsel.

  • Work closely with agency partner on issue reports.

  • Keep a pulse on international news.

  • Provide crisis support on crisis management needs, as appropriate.

  • High level of professional integrity and discretion

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field with 7+ years communication experience in corporate, government, PR agency or related field, or advanced degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field with 5+ years of communication experience in corporate, government, PR agency or related field

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS


  • Advanced degree a plus

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Crisis/Issues communications experience in an agency environment is preferred.

  • Consumer packaged goods experience is a bonus.

  • Strong ability to multi-task and juggle several issues all over the world, at the same time.

  • Understand the difference between an issue (and how to operate day to day) and a crisis.

  • While part of a team, this role should be a self-starter.

  • Able to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


  • Full-time onsite in Racine, WI

  • Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees.
