Role


Experienced engineer who produces structural analyses and/or reinforcement designs for wireless telecommunications supporting structures, and leads/participates in projects under supervision of licensed professional engineers.


Responsibilities



  • Perform detailed structural analysis of original, modified, and proposed wireless telecommunications supporting structures; monopole, guyed, lattice-self-support, and small cell structures and produce reports for review and approval by an experienced and licensed engineer.

  • Design modifications on original and modified wireless telecommunications supporting structures; monopole, lattice guyed, lattice self-supporting, and small cell structures and review modification drawings produced for review and approval by an experienced and licensed engineer.

  • Review work of less experienced engineers and peers in the production of reports and supporting calculations for structural analyses and modification designs.

  • Perform quality assurance reviews of third party work for quality, consistency, and cost impacts.

  • Develop analysis tools, standards, and training presentations, and conduct training sessions.

  • Respond to consultation work order requests through the Engineering Services Program (ESP).

  • Lead small to moderate sized projects.

  • Participate in large projects as an engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Determine the cause of overstresses in the structural members and plan for practical and cost-effective reinforcement/modification system

  • Produce structure and foundation reinforcement/modification conceptual sketches for structural detailers to develop into detailed design drawings package.


Education/Certifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, preferably specializing in structures

  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam – EIT Designation required

  • Professional licensure (PE) preferred


Experience/Minimum Requirements



  • Four (4)+ years of experience (or three (3) years along with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering) in performing structural analysis/design on a variety of wireless telecommunications supporting structures strongly preferred

  • Working knowledge of codes and standards related to telecommunications structures (e.g. AISC, ACI, IBC, AWS)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with structural and foundation analysis tools (e.g. tnxTower, Lpile, Risa 3D, STAAD, etc.)


Expectations



  • Experience using MS Excel and other general-purpose software, such as MathCAD, for engineering calculations

  • Experience using AutoCAD drafting/modeling software

  • Experience leading small projects

  • Understanding of spatial relationships to resolve potential interference issues

  • Understanding of structural load paths

  • Knowledge of bolted and welded connection design

  • Knowledge of tower hardware and components

  • Experience or knowledge of steel shop fabrication processes and/or knowledge of fabrication shop tools and capabilities

  • Experience or knowledge in tower/reinforcement erection and/or knowledge of wireless telecommunications supporting structure construction equipment and practices

  • Detail oriented and self-motivated

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in customer relations and communications

Working Conditions: This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter. Travel up to 20% may be required.
