Identifies safety compliance or non-compliance by inspecting project site and working environment.
Identifies personal safety compliance or non-compliance by observing employees' and subcontractors' behaviors and use of protective equipment.
Prepares employees by developing and conducting safety training orientation classes and coaching employees.
Assures safety equipment functioning by inspecting and testing equipment and alarms.
Inspect and evaluate work areas for hazards and unsafe working conditions and takes necessary action.
Investigates accidents, files reports, and analyzes nature of accident to determine cause and necessary corrective action.
Contribute to EHS Department by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
Effectively develop and apply the core skills to the job.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Minimum 7 years EHS work experience in heavy civil construction.
Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) preferred
10-hours formal safety training in past 3 years.
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to interact professionally with employees and clients of various levels.
