Job Description:

Practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing in assessing patients needs, administering physician prescribed treatments, teaching patients and family members about their disease state and the corresponding treatments and side effects, counseling of patients and family members when appropriate and assisting the physician in the overall care of the patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide on-site patient care to all patients, including coordination of care with physician, other staff members and ancillary services when neededProvide patient teaching on all new patients regarding disease, treatment information, available support services and counseling options as indicatedTriage telephone calls, resolve patient issues and concerns, review problems with physician and take appropriate actionAdminister/evaluate new and existing programs/protocolsMaintain accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functionsCoordinate patient care activities with homecare or other ancillary servicesMaintain hematology/oncology expertise at all timesMaintain up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy and infusion therapy drugs and their potential side effectsMay be required to travel with MDRound with MD during week and weekendInitial workup of new clinic patients, hospital consults and established patient hospital H&P (history and physical)

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position may require additional hours outside the normal 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday work schedule and occasional travel throughout Central Arkansas.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
ADN or BSN from an accredited College of NursingBLS CertifiedValid and current Arkansas state nursing licenseChemotherapy Certification (required within 90 days of employment)Valid Arkansas Drivers License (if travel is required)

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
2-5 years clinical experience in direct patient care preferredMaintain required number of continuing education units (CEUs) as specified by the Arkansas State Board of NursingExcellent computer and other basic office equipment skillsExpertise in IV therapy skills and injections
