WATER PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

DESCRIPTION

A Surface Water Intern may be involved with any number of tasks. Some days will be in the office and others may be in the field. Various tasks may include:


  • Provide support for hydrology or hydraulics studies by delineating watersheds, completing As-Built review, providing CAD support, or completing a field investigation.
  • Complete calculations to determine runoff volumes or flow rates.
  • Summarize findings of a study in a report and create supporting exhibits.
  • Complete field work by gathering project site information, inspecting a construction or industrial site, confirming post-construction BMP installation, or identifying assets.
  • Review and summarize NPDES permits or correspondence from regulatory agencies.
  • Develop construction or post-construction storm water compliance plans such as SWPPPs, WQMPs, LID Plans, etc.
  • Develop water quality program elements, assess the effectiveness of various program implementation elements, and gather information to support reporting.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be enrolled and pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering at an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 2 years of completed post-secondary coursework in student's field of study.
  • Minimum 2.5 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS.

The salary range for this position is $16-$30 an hour.
