The Sr Benefits Program Manager - Health & Welfare leads all projects including design/development, implementation/deployment of programs and vendors specific to medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, savings/spending accounts, point solutions and other benefit offerings. This includes vendor management, planning deliverables and partnering with benefit operations and other functions to support effective and efficient delivery/deployment of all health and welfare benefits.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, savings/spending accounts, point solutions and other benefit projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Sets clear direction and project management objectives with teams that aligns with defined practices and policies and enhances the organization's human resource capabilities.
  • Responsible for project performance, risk mitigation, administration, financial management, budgeting, and issue resolution.
  • Manages the execution and deployment of medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, savings/spending accounts, point solutions and other benefit offerings for all employees (including retirees, where applicable) in the US and Puerto Rico, including vendor management, partnering with benefit operations and other functions to support effective and efficient delivery of all programs.
  • Leads open enrollment for employees in the US and Puerto Rico.
  • Monitors and analyzes regulations and compliance requirements to ensure Medtronic benefit plans are compliant. Conduct analysis to measure the financial impact of required provisions.
  • Leads design and development of medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, savings/spending accounts, point solutions and other benefit offerings.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of benefits experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years' experience

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of experience in multiple HR disciplines
  • 5+ years of program and/or project management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit programs and processes
  • Knowledge of HR practices, techniques and standards
  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Advanced HRIS system knowledge
  • Competency in managing cross-functional, global projects
  • Ability to indirectly manage a team of individuals and drive a project to successful completion
  • Competent delivering presentations, giving status updates and facilitating cross-functional reports
  • Highly organized and process oriented
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Competent in written and oral communication
  • Proven problem solving, decision-making and issue resolution skills
  • Ability to effectively perform in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Experience with high visibility and/or global programs/projects

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
