The Team Leader Maintenance position is responsible for all machine and plant maintenance. Assists in all maintenance personnel assignments, maintenance training, and planning coordination. Provides technical leadership to the plant for the successful support and continuous manufacturing of the plant's existing and new manufacturing processes. Ensures that packaging, utilities, material handling, and control systems to produce food products are based on the lowest possible cost. Provides technical expertise to lead all maintenance technicians in PM programs, safe work practices, and Manufacturing Excellence (ME). All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, lock out/tag out (LOTO) regulations and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA), building and electrical codes, and food safety and food quality (USDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safety and Quality of Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
These 2 newly created positions are for 1st shift, and 2nd shift, with weekend rotation and 'off shift work when required.
Supervises, and directs the daily activities of the maintenance technicians, monitors assigned work orders and preventative maintenance (PMs) work orders.
Assists in managing maintenance performance against plant goals in safety, quality, ME, cost, customer service and culture.
Assists in managing and supervising all OSHA compliance training for maintenance technicians.
Provides leadership, direction, and training to maintenance technicians for basic maintenance and repairs on conveyors, packaging equipment, production equipment, electrical control systems and other related plant systems infrastructure systems.
Records according to procedures, assuring that all equipment documentation is up to date and assures that the documentation of maintenance technicians is accurate and complete, PM work orders are correctly completed as scheduled.
Conducts routine walk-throughs and inspections of production equipment and facilities and provides feedback, concerns, and recommendations for improvement to the Plant Maintenance Manager.
Identifies and document the skills, performance opportunities, learning needs, time and attendance of each maintenance technician and teaches routinely.
Maintains excellent troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical skills.
Assists with Breakdown Analysis, 6W2H, 5S Standards along with workstreams to address root cause.
Maintain a degree of knowledge of motor control circuits, electrical schematics, and general servo motor controls concepts.
Exudes a high degree of inter-personal skills and can work well with everyone.
Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA, USDA, and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements.
Assists in managing all maintenance employees' performance in accordance with plant goals in safety, quality, cost, customer service, and culture.
Assists in managing all maintenance personnel including required maintenance training and certification programs,
Continuously use a high degree of interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all types of people.
Help to manage department SAP system, including PM's, PM audits, equipment, purchase orders, work orders, work order histories, and employee time.
Manage and supervise all OSHA compliance training for maintenance and stationary departments.
Perform duties as plant Safety Management Expert (SME) for Hot Works Program, Fall Protection Program and Confined Space Program.
Emergency Response Team Member responsible for assisting in the upkeep of the program and the regular testing team members.
Assists with planning and coordinating of plant projects with contractor oversight, keeping withing schedule and budget.
Misc., duties as assigned.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work and issues that arise.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
Associate degree in Maintenance, Machine Repair, or a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
Five years of maintenance related and supervisory work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of electrical controls, mechanical equipment, conveyors, and production or facilities related equipment and the ability to troubleshoot and make repairs.
Blueprint reading and electrical schematic understanding.
General PLC concepts.
Competency in English language (read, write, speak); excellent written, oral, and listening skills.
Knowledge of regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as FDA, OSHA, and EPA.
Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to effectively present information to management.
