Job Description:

The Assistant Dockmaster serves as the ambassador for the marina and is the first person with whom a customer will interact. The Assistant Dockmaster is responsible for working with the Dockmaster to ensure the safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the docks, assisting boaters, and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the management of berthing, mooring, storage and servicing of boats within the marinaDaily inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facilityManage, train, and supervise dock staffFirst line of customer service for incoming boatsResponsible for daily operations of marina docksSupervise renting of slipsEnsures that boaters observe all marina rules and regulationsAvailability to work overtime when requiredAbility to work weekends and holidaysOther duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred2-5 years marina experience preferredAbility to work safely around the waterMust be able to swimAbility to lift 50 poundsBasic boat handling skills preferredKnowledge of dock construction and repair preferredKnowledge of basic power tools preferred
