Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the grounds, facilities, and overall environment to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for campers, staff, and visitors. Your duties will include performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring that the camp facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the campgrounds, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, snow/ice removal, and removing debris.Inspect and repair equipment, picnic tables, benches, and other outdoor structures.Monitor and maintain trails, ensuring they are safe and accessible for campers and staff.Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, cabins, bathrooms, boats, program areas, and other facilities.Ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems are in good working order.Conduct regular inspections to identify any maintenance issues and address them promptly.Work closely with other camp staff, including maintenance workers, counselors, and administrative personnel, to support the camp's overall operations.Work with Facilities Director on timelines of projects for camp.Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to coordinate tasks and address any issues or concerns.Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other activities as required.Assist with the winterization and de-winterizing of camp including, but not limited to, cleaning, organizing, and inventory. Be available to work weekends and nights during rentals, events, and clean up days if needed. Arrive prepared for the scheduled shift, which includes arriving for duty 15 minutes prior, in proper attire and prepared for required concentration. Demonstrate the Character Development values of caring respect, responsibility, and honesty. Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA. Available to assist other branches when needed as assigned, especially in the off-season.Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for training, evaluating, and overseeing a group of 3-7 people.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School (GED) as minimum and additional training in specialty areaPrevious experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.Willingness to undergo background checks and training as required.
