Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for Columbia Helicopters’ internal manufacturing methods and outsourced supplier production processes new and existing designs.  This includes development of manufacturing methods, frozen planning, and processes to efficiently and effectively produce parts.  The Manufacturing Manager investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing, including make or buy decisions.  This position is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate bills of materials and manufacturing routers for all products.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • 25% - Confers with management, Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Suppliers, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to address engineering-related production problems and to facilitate production processes and the production of new parts.

  • 20% - Interprets engineering drawings. Facilitates correction of errors on drawings and documents all relevant information identified during manufacturing and maintenance operations.

  • 20% - Authors Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and change Engineering Drawings to revise data and support manufacturing and maintenance operations.

  • 20% - Investigates reports of defective, damaged or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, systems or equipment to determine nature of problem and potential solutions for submittal to the Material Review Board (MRB).

  • 15% - Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised parts including establishing goals, training staff, and evaluating results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - 



  • BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Aeronautical Engineering or 5-10 years of equivalent manufacturing experience

  • 2 to 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably within an Aviation/Aerospace field.

  • Understanding of engineering drawings, engineering specifications, maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, and parts catalogs.

  • Understanding of rudimentary engineering processes (requirements evaluations and analysis)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiar with SolidWorks and Product Data Management Software

  • Strong organization skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas, concepts, and proposals to a wide range of internal and external audiences at all levels, both technical and non-technical
