Certified Welding Inspector
The Certified Welding Inspector performs all QC and QA testing procedures specified or assigned, assuring compliance to all specifications and maintaining all associated records.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
CWI Certification required.
Inspector ensures work is safe and ready to function. Fully conversant with GTAW and SMAW welding process. Visually inspects pipe butt welds, socket welds and fillet welds, ASME B31.3, B31.1 Codes and structural welds. Checking weld quality, Material Type, Code acceptance criteria, square, level, orientation and quality of workmanship.
Inspect flange alignment, bolting requirements, anti-seize application, torque requirements on threaded connections for flanges and equipment. Complete No Leak Start Up Checklists.
Inspect piping systems and equipment for cleanliness. Complete Build It Clean Inspection Forms.
Conduct weld tests in the Weld Test Shop to qualify and certify welders in accordance with Austin’s Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS’s). Complete Welder’s Orientation.
Maintain Welder’s Continuity.
Process Welding Rod Control Slips.
Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
Additional tasks may be required.
Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education – no minimum education requirements.
Experience – 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
Must pass drug screen and background check, as a condition of employment.
