Job Summary

FreeWheel is looking for passionate Sr. Managers to help design, build and support our high-quality, innovative video advertising platform and optimization algorithm running on it. This position is based in New York or Reston.
FreeWheel helps the television industry to monetize their premium contents through a robust technology platform, which enables consumers to view high quality videos on any devices including PC, smart phone, OTT device, set-top box and traditional TV.
FreeWheel's New York/Reston Engineering Hub is a core part of our global engineering group that is building the one-stop solution for TV industry to manage its billion-dollar revenue. Our tech platform is capable of handling billions of daily requests, processing terabytes of raw daily data, and optimizing clients' business.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities


  • Manage and lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality products within established timelines.

  • Take responsibilities for the daily management of the team and project, motivate, and develop the team, coach and mentor team members.

  • Conduct work performancereviews andensurework performanceis adhering to Comcast standards.

  • Take responsibilities for optimizing processes, improving engineering excellence and ensuring product quality.

  • Refactor and optimize existing systems to improve scalability, observability, availability, and performance.

  • Work closely with business teams and other stakeholders to support the development of ad delivery optimization.

  • Take responsibilities for the research, development, operation and maintenance of the ad delivery optimization.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison betweenglobal teams.

  • Initiate, influence, and drive a diverse set of ad deliveryforecasting, planning and optimization problems, workingwith a wide range of teams and learning a great deal aboutad-tech in theprocess.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership.

  • Oversees the planning and designing of software and web applications, including new programs, enhancements and modifications.

  • Provides guidance to the Software Engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements. Serves as primary point of contact and liaison between Software Engineering and other teams.

  • Directs implementation initiatives for new software products and applications. Organizes software update process for existing applications and coordinates the roll-out of software releases.

  • Manages all the deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications and budgets. Implements performance metrics and prepares period reports and/or proposals. Monitors and tracks project progress and reports findings to leadership team.

  • Ensures all engineers keep current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products.

  • Provides leadership and direction to department personnel from lower-level managers to non-exempt employees.

  • Manages cross-project communications.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualification:


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years of experience in team management and leadership

  • Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects from ground up.

  • A track record of fostering collaboration among team members through an effectiveprocess.

  • Extensive experience with at least one of C/C++/Java/Golang

  • Strong experience with big data technologies such as Spark, distributed message queue system (e.g. Kakfa), etc

  • Experience with machine learning practice

  • Experience with software development best practices, including agile methodology

  • Experience with Mysql skills, distributed systems, containerization technology and cloud platforms is a plus

  • Familiar with the design and development of advertising system is a plus

  • Have rich project driving experience, good leadership and execution ability

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team of developers

  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a global environment
