Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Manager organizes and monitors the receiving, storage, distribution and shipping of all items received in the Akro-Mils warehouse and shipped from the facility. Ensures product is distributed to proper departments and shipped out of facility in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. The Warehouse Manager must have the ability to develop personnel and equipment structures to support present and future operations, and a strong knowledge of warehouse, shipping and receiving operations, methods and practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plans and coordinates work, trains, monitors, time sheet approval (to include regular hours and all time off) and evaluates performance of all warehouse employees.
  • Ensures all department employees are working safely, are aware of and following all safety rules, and are wearing the required PPE.
  • Counsels and disciplines department employees as necessary. Recommends and interviews applicants for department positions as needed.
  • Oversees all loading and unloading of materials, ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection, and that the shipping and receiving reports accurately report material shipped and received.
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, product received in and shipped from the warehouse, and receiving/shipping documents/reports.
  • Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry.
  • Monitors that all items received in the warehouse receipts are correct. Maintains all received items in warehouse files.
  • Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
  • Oversees the supplying of materials to production and stages material for assembly and sub-assembly.
  • Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse.
  • Utilizes and incorporates the use of 5S and 5Why strategies in the warehouse.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Akro-Mils policies and OSHA Standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred or three years of experience in Warehousing, Receiving, Shipping, Inventory control and forklift operation; required
  • Three years supervisory experience required.
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Possess strong leadership and managerial skills; required.
  • Proficient computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

  • Knowledge of Bar code Technology and Electronic Data Interchange; required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, employee handbook, and procedure manuals.
  • Competent oral and written communication skills are required to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively to management, customers, vendors, and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, vendors, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to do two mathematical operations to arrive at the solution.

REASONING ABILITY:


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
