Job Description

Your Role: Customer Master Data Steward

The incumbent is a team member of the US Customer Master Department and is responsible for maintaining the Elanco Animal Health (AH) customer master database, which consists of veterinarians, agents, and distributors. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate creation and ongoing maintenance of the critical customer master records for the U.S. Animal Health business unit.  These master data records are the critical foundation for interaction, shipping, pricing, billing, and cash collections.  The customer master data is also critical to determine a customer's eligibility for various pricing and promotional activities as well as Elanco sales force compensation. The incumbent is to follow strict procedures that are established for database maintenance and order/invoice correction to identify the customer correctly.  The incumbent will interact with internal and external customers to resolve questions or problems involving customer master data and those involving electronic data submitted from Agents.

Your Responsibilities:  


  • Creation and ongoing maintenance the Elanco AH Customer Master files for veterinarians/clinics, agents, distributors, Elanco Sales Reps. and other AH customers within the global Master Data Management system (MDM) and within SAP.


  • Timely and accurate maintenance of the customer master database is of critical importance to assure accurate business transactions between Elanco and its customers.  (This includes, but is not limited to sales invoicing, rebates, commissions, product shipment, sales tax compliance and Elanco sales personnel compensation)


  • Acts as a point of contact with Agents to ensure that customer records are correct & to ensure Agent compliance.


  • Requests and maintains Animal Health Numbers (AHN) for all accounts within the Elanco AH Customer Master Database.


  • Interacts with Agents, Elanco Account Services, Credit, Information Systems, Accounting, Distribution and Third-party vendors to resolve customer master, pricing, and order/invoice issues.


  • Adheres to and completes all standard operating procedures and rules established for SAP and the MDRS.


  • Process Data Change Requests (DCRs) that are submitted by sales reps, customer service, and other data stewards.


  • Research, validate and then properly identify the appropriate customer classification, in order to assure accuracy of the customer master data records and hence the financial transactions mentioned above.


  • Incumbent must work closely with third party agents as well as internal Elanco personnel across multiple departments, including Account Services Dept., Information Systems, Credit Dept., Accounting, Tax and Distribution.


  • The incumbent must also work seamlessly with other members of the team.


What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): 


  • The position requires a high school diploma with a minimum of four years successful business experience.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.


  • Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy is a must. 


  • Experience and aptitude in data entry is required.


  • Incumbent is required to have proficient verbal and written skills as well as excellent phone etiquette.
