Position is a G10 level and requires weekend work, both voluntary and mandatory. Opportunity to be certified in coating evaluation and DSQR and move to a G11 based on business needs. (Initial training will be done on 1st shift). Job Overview - The metallurgical laboratory technician will prepare cubicle samples (tab samples) and customer hardware (part cut-ups) at various stages of the production process and complete metallurgical evaluations by completing the tasks below: - Preparation includes sectioning, mounting, polishing and evaluations are completed by using a microscope per internal and corporate quality requirements - Assist in calibration and maintenance of lab equipment - Complete and maintain accurate records per requirements - Ability to stand for long periods of time - Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines and procedures and complying with all applicable regulations - Communicating and work well in a diverse environment - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - High school diploma is required, related lab experience desired - Must be able to complete week-long Metcut (CCL) training (off-site) prior to working independently, If not previous certified - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for sample preparation - Ability to prioritize work, multi-task and be action oriented - Works well with others, including team members and internal customers - Must be self-sufficient and focused on assigned duties - Must be able to work closely with Quality / Engineering / Operations on assigned tasks - Must be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines - Must be reliable to achieve assigned duties in a timely manner - Working extended hours and/or weekends and holidays may be required - Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time - Ability to demonstrate acceptable manual dexterity Preferred - Previous Metcut (CCL) certification and PST certification a plus - Prior coating experience a plus - Experience working in a production / manufacturing and/or plant environment. - Knowledge of visual and dimensional inspection techniques. - Previous work experience with hazardous / chemical processes.
