Primary Role


  • Internship is designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional in a utility-based environment.

  • Through job shadowing and completing project milestones, the candidate will gain exposure to project coordination, water pipeline and treatment inspection, relevant computer-assisted engineering software, cost estimating, GIS mapping, plan review, data collection, and related tasks.

  • Candidates will work alongside staff engineers, project managers, inspectors, and operations personnel. The work environment will be a combination of in-office and field activities. Some activities will be performed outdoors with occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions which require adherence to safe work practices, such as temperature/weather variations, odors, noise, wetness, traffic hazards, and/or dust.

Knowledge/Skills


  • Candidate must possess excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Having completed a previous internship related to the candidate's field of study is preferable.

  • Must be proficient in all computer software typically used (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Experience/Education


  • Candidate must be in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited program or related engineering technology program.

  • Candidates are preferred to have completed a minimum of 2 years of study in their program.
