This position would be similar to the railroad industry title of Chief Maintenance Officer, and would be responsible for directing the maintenance activities of the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) division. This position would ensure the implementation, coordination and supervision of RTD's rail maintenance, warranty tracking programs, testing and certification of equipment. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:    


  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Conducts performance review, and holds employees accountable for their responsibilities.

  • Prepares, monitors and controls maintenance work plans, TDP maintenance schedules and budgets.

  • Establishes preventive maintenance programs, policies and procedures.

  • Plans and coordinates integration of new corridors into existing light rail system and serves as the Project Manager for newly procured Light Rail Vehicles.

  • Coordinates and monitors LRV projects and conducts contractor performance evaluation.

  • Coordinates contractual maintenance activities.

  • All job-related duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:    


  • Associate's Degree in electrical technology or a closely related field of study.

  • A minimum of two years experience in electro/mechanical maintenance or LRV related equipment.

  • A minimum of three years supervisory experience in rail transit equipment maintenance. A combination of two years Rail and one year Bus transit maintenance supervisory experience may substitute.

  • A minimum of five years experience with electrical and mechanical technology and concepts; including microprocessors to high voltage.

  • Proficiency in rail operations safety practices, including vehicle/track rail system safety regulations.

  • Proficiency in LRV maintenance operations, policies and procedures.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means.

  • Ability to use sound judgment.

  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
