We are seeking two, full-time, Environmental Project Managers, Emergency Responders for our Denver, CO operations.

Do you want to make a difference with your knowledge, organizational skills, and passion in environmental assessment, emergency response, due diligence and remediation?

Selected candidate will manage small dollar ($5K to $700K), high volume projects. Requires field travel to sites across EPA Region 8 (Colorado, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, and North Dakota), there will also be opportunities to travel outside of the region.

This is a full-time position for an individual with a strong technical background in environmental site investigation and remediation who is interested in career growth and business development opportunities while managing and supporting a variety of public and private sector environmental projects.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have between 5 -10 years' experience with and at least five (5) years relevant experience in environmental consulting, remediation, project management, sampling, field team leadership. In addition, you should have experience with:

• Writing plans (SAP, FSP, HASP, work plans, QAPPS), conducting and supervising larger long-term projects, necessitating proven personnel and financial management skills, and/or provides expertise in specialized technical areas such as Hazard Ranking System Evaluation, subsurface modeling, radiation safety, training and exercise development; demonstrates ability to develop and apply new and/or unique methods, approaches, and procedures.
• Proficiency in multi-media (air, soil, water, chip/wipe, container) sampling procedures.
• Preparing estimates and scheduling assignments to meet completion dates; and plans, conducts, and supervise assignments on a project-by-project basis while under general supervision of the program manager.
• Ability to supervise budgets and resources on smaller projects and provide technical support.
• Independently make routine field decisions such as sampling locations, PPE/equipment selection, and appropriate sampling/analytical methods.
• Data entry, map production and other basic GIS support services.
• Programming, data querying and other basic IT support services.

Candidates with the following are considered a plus:

• Direct on-scene response to investigate spills and releases of hazardous substances and oil, and emergency response to a variety of releases and incidents.
• ICS training and the ability to function in a National Incident Management System/Incident Command System (NIMS/ICS) structure.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and competence in the donning and doffing of the various levels of PPE (Levels A through D). Demonstrated knowledge of the appropriate methods for inspection of PPE including Level A fully encapsulating suit, SCBA, and air purifying respirators.
• Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination procedures associated with hazardous material, chemical, nuclear and biological agents. -Demonstrate knowledge of emergency decontamination and extraction procedures, evaluation of decontamination efficacy and decontamination of field sampling equipment.
• Ability to perform standard documentation activities during emergency response using digital and conventional 35 mm cameras, handheld GPS, handheld computers/tablets, video camera equipment.
• Ability to draw site sketch/map from field observations, knowledge of chain-of custody and evidence protection protocols.
• Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and calibration of state-of-the-art portable field instrumentation including air monitoring equipment.
• Proficient in the interpretation of data output, and knowledge on the limitations of field analytical equipment/field test kits, and standard and state-of-the-art field monitoring instruments.
• Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of standard and state-of-the art air sampling and air monitoring instrumentation during responses to uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and or spills/releases of oil or hazardous substances.
• Proficiency with EPA's Quality Assurance program as it applies to field sampling activities

In addition:
• This position requires a background check.

Degree / Certifications
• BS degree in engineering, geology, chemistry, biology, toxicology, or related field
• 40-hour HazWoper and annual refreshers
• ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 is a plus
• Hazard Classification Training is a plus
• Asbestos Awareness is a plus
• First Aid/CPR is a plus
• Professional registrations are a plus.

Work Environment
You must be able to:

• Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
• Work in the field 25% - 50% of the time.
• Walk around project sites for a full day if required, including on uneven terrain, in remote locations.
• Work outside in a variety of weather conditions, both hot and cold, and sometimes harsh conditions.
• Carry up to 35 pounds of equipment (such as sampling tools, GPS unit, field screening equipment and cameras) during field work.
• Wear a respirator and be medically cleared to wear one.
• Travel to project locations within the United States.
• Work beyond traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, in order to meet client deadlines.

The Salary Range for this position is $58,000 - $110,000, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
