Position Summary:

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for providing inventory control leadership to support manufacturing operations.  Responsibilities includes accurate control of all raw material inventory, cycle counts, physical counts, production planning, deployment, inventory reconciliation, item set-up, MRP and O&D requests. Responsible to lead the activities of the Inventory Coordinators to ensure effective use of resources with a focus on inventory accuracy and customer service.  This position provides support to other departments such as Accounting, FSQ, Corporate Marketing, Buyers and the Distribution Center supporting inventory related issues.  The Inventory Manager maintains and improves the integrity of the inventory processes and systems, proactively monitors key indicators and audits activities against Standard Operating Procedures.

Essential Duties:

Compares forecasted quantities, production scheduled quantities, and sales information against raw material to confirm that delivery requirements on raw material meet weekly production timing while staying within appropriate inventory levels Monitors MRP and identify what purchase order quantities to create and timing of delivery for raw materials and packaging      Understands the manufacturing process to assist in identifying problems and issues with materials and production schedules Reviews existing inventory items and suggests improvements for reducing or consolidating components Daily review and monitoring of silo activity to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained with minimal negative impact to daily production Develops daily/weekly schedule for railcar soda delivery Tracks and records railcar inventory adjustment (+/-) Schedules annual silo calibrations and cleanouts Reviews, manages, and adjusts for expiring items Manages internal monthly cycle counts/Quarterly cycle counts with KPMG Fills in during absences or assistance for inventory coordinators Reviews safety stock quantities of each item periodically to ensure appropriate levels are set and maintained in GP Reviews and calculate supplier quantity splits based on agreed upon contracts Builds supplier orders to meet best pricing while maintaining raw material inventory targets Performs new item set-up in JDE for all raw material, packaging, and Finished Good items Notifies lead time changes to production control assistant for updates to supplier database Establishes trusted relationships with suppliers to ensure quality service and cost-effective deals Assists with all other duties as requested or assigned by the Plant Manager Inventory Change Control: Raw material change control which includes assisting the Purchasing group regarding label and other packaging changes defined by the Marketing or LAP group or formula changes defined by the R&D group Leads others in safe work practices

Minimum Formal Education:

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent, Degree Preferred

  • Must be proficient in math (including rates, ratios, percentages, and able to draw and interpret graphs)

  • Ability to be detail orientated with strong clerical skills

  • Proven organizational skills and data entry skills

  • Ability to apply a common- sense approach and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form

  • Must possess ability to supervise, counsel and work professionally with department personnel and peers.
