The Senior Material Analyst Buyer will plan complex material requirements by determining what type, quantity and date is needed to ensure optimal installation of projects to the customer. The associate will support sales using product knowledge of the suppliers for product options relative to electrical and mechanical needs for projects, ensure accurate processing of purchase orders and delivery of merchandise to the customer, collaborate with intercompany departments to keep product options available, maintain vendor relationships and expedite purchase orders to accomplish installation expectations.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Evaluate, plan and purchase materials to support customer demand.

  • Recommend mechanical and electrical requirements for solar shade or other hard goods projects.

  • Coordinate with project management and estimating groups to assure proper operation of shades and other hardware or product is executed.

  • Assist with development of electrical needs or motorization.

  • Facilitate ordering support hardware needed to effectively install project.

  • Reselect fabric to provide opacity needs for solar protection.

  • Provide technical support relative to fabric needs, privacy requirements and other operational issues of the product.

  • Understand design changes in product and effectively communicate product specifications to sales and estimating teams.

  • Assure design changes are communicated to all parties to assure proper installation and hardware requirements are addressed.

  • Initiate requests for volume pricing and become the product experts in solutions for difficult projects relative to architecture or electrical design of the facility.

  • Recommend configuration enhancements to assure PO information is accurate.

  • Manage daily communication with suppliers and make sure expectations are clear relative to lead time, quality, cost, availability and payment terms.

  • Confirm delivery information providing accurate dates for production and customer service.

  • Manage all safety stock in the E1 system to support components for installation requirements.

  • Review past usage, current demand, capacity issues for manufacturing and inventory planning.

  • Reconcile outside inventory monthly making adjustments to assure we are reflecting accurate dollars on the ledger.

  • Manage exceptions with suppliers to keep them accountable for STC owned product.

  • Provide and maintain regularly scheduled reports and evaluations of replacement parts needed to analyze supplier performance.

  • Proactively communicate timely and accurate information to all internal and external customers.

  • Transfer inventory as required from distribution centers as needed for manufacturing or customer support.

  • Oversee returned product to suppliers for quality issues as well as overstock situations.

  • Other duties/projects as assigned by management.

Requirements Include:


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years' experience in purchasing, distribution or manufacturing environment required

  • Experience working with global supply chain partners and knowledge of JD Edwards preferred
