Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Process Plant Engineer provides technical support to Quality, Manufacturing and Maintenance. They plan and design manufacturing processes by efficient use of layout, assembly methods, and utilization of personnel. Additionally, they design and develop major engineering projects by providing technical direction in plant production systems to establish cost saving opportunities and reduce scrap and leads lean projects with production and engineering vendors.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Promotes an atmosphere conscious of environmental, safety and health practices, ensuring compliance with all quality and safety protocols.

  • Understands and performs daily job duties in a manner which supports the plant's goals and quality objectives (CSA Vision/Quality Policy).

  • Provides technical support to plant quality with participation and engineering analysis of quality rejections for existing product.

  • Develops new equipment, tooling, and program upgrades.

  • Provides technical support to plant manufacturing with participation in lean and cost savings projects and scrap reduction.

  • Provides technical support to plant maintenance with support for repair, replacement, and upgrade of assembly tools and existing production equipment.

  • Provides technical support for plant engineering department and divisional engineering in the development of new products or production methods.

  • Develops plant equipment and coordinates layout and installation of new equipment, utilizing principles of ergonomics and equitable standards, to maximize efficiency.

  • Coordinates process improvement projects and acts as team leader for all project activities, managing activities between departments.

  • Develops new methods of product testing as required.

  • Develops and assists training of engineering technicians and maintenance personnel.

  • Supports new product launches utilizing APQP process, including support for new capital requests.

Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical field preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in engineering or other technical field in the production environment.

  • Strong written and oral skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability, proven analytical skills, organizational and team building skills, and statistical knowledge.

  • Design capability required.

  • Experience with PFMEA, PLC, Vision System, CAD, Solid works preferred.

Work Environment/Work Conditions:


  • Professional Office Environment.

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor.
