Job Description

We are looking for a Manager Data Science to lead our Global Data Science team. The Manager Data Science will be responsible for driving our Data Science future direction, initiatives and efforts across all locations. The Manager Data Science will be responsible for ensuring that our products are innovative using the latest data science technologies and techniques.

Duties

Management- You will be responsible for managing, hiring, and training Data Scientists as well as aligning resources as per business needs.

Communication- You will need to write reports and relay information to employees in person, and management on releases and risks. You will need to work with Project managers to ensure Data Science deliverables are on-time and identify any risk upfront.

Coding Comprehension- You should be able to read computer coding languages like Java and Python to identify potential problems and find ways to streamline model/software delivery.

Creative and Innovative Thinking- Find creative and innovative solutions for complex data science, software and business issues and apply these solutions to resolve problems

Ability to adapt quickly to changes and maintain high team morale and efficiency.

Ability to work collaboratively with teams to address their needs, motivate them throughout the project, and identify opportunities to add their own support directly when needed.

Ability to provide oversight and analysis of work estimates and defend and articulate work efforts.

Ensure team adheres to established data science standardization & best practices.

Ability to work collaboratively in teams with other specialized individuals.

Instill team empowerment, ownership, and accountability

Able to work in a fast-paced, technical environment with minimal oversight and in a professional manner.

Ability to measure team and individual performance through standardized key performance indicators, and the ability to push the quality bar higher

Staying on top of the cutting-edge data science techniques and trends, implementing the technologies and ensuring higher quality products on projects

Requirements


  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative fields with focus on AI, Machine Learning, Mathematical Algorithms, Probability and Statistical Modeling
  • 10+ years of Experience developing models
  • 10+ years of Experience managing data scientists
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering Experience
  • Led Data Science teams globally (multiple locations)
  • Experience delivering AI Models as part of a software solution
  • Experience delivering AI Models as part of Cloud based solution (Private, AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with automating the updating and upgrading of models deployed in production
  • Experience delivering models that produce results in real-time
  • Experience delivering models that can analyze and produce results for millions of transactions daily
  • Experience balancing theory with pragmatic problem-solving skills to develop and apply advanced algorithms to real world problems and data
  • Good understanding Bayesian Statistics
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud AI/ML Platforms
  • Experience and passion for Generative AI, LLM, SLM
  • Used open source and commercial AI/ML development platforms (DataRobot, SageMaker, etc.)
  • Experience making infrastructural choices to ensure that the models have excellent performance in real-time and scale with large datasets
  • Proficient with Python, SQL, Graph/Vector databases/theory, R and visualization tools
  • Experience with Agile development and SCRUM
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Experience using LLMs, Vector databases and code generation frameworks to produce code

Nice to have


  • Experience with Financial Crime market (Fraud and Anti Money Laundering)
  • Past experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience using AI to build tests and test plans
  • Experience with Snowflake, Graph/Vector Database, MongoDB, Time Series Databases
  • Experience with Rules engines and workflow engines
  • Knowledge of Social Network Analysis

Soft Skills

Demonstrate strong leadership skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the writing and presenting of presentations around Model testing strategies, model validation, model governance and best practices.

Ability to work in a cross-functional and cross-domain environment and drive discussions with various leaders across the company
