Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

BCE Engineers, a Division of TranSystems is a 70-person office that provides consulting services for mechanical, electrical, low voltage, and life safety in Fife, WA. As we’ve grown over the last 35 years, we’re proud to have maintained the friendly atmosphere, family-first mentality, and no-ego attitude that have become trademarks of our business. Our internal culture forms the foundation of our practical approach to design, where we focus on providing maintainable, cost effective, and energy efficient solutions. Our engineers enjoy working on a diverse range of projects in a variety of sectors, including schools, military, healthcare, municipal, institutional, commercial, and multi-family residential.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Design innovative and efficient plumbing and HVAC systems for new and existing buildings

  • Size, coordinate, and specify HVAC equipment and plumbing fixtures and equipment

  • Calculate and analyze loads to ensure efficiency and maximize sustainability

  • Draft in AutoCAD and Bluebeam

  • Review drawings using Revit

  • Attend meetings with the project team, including architects and other engineering disciplines Maintain working knowledge of codes and regulations

  • Prepare documentation for permit applications

  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction support to contractors

  • Perform site visits and write field reports

  • Troubleshoot design and construction challenges

  • Take ownership of complete design on small projects with responsibilities increasing over time

  • Help with entry level engineer training

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • At least 10 years engineering design experience in plumbing and/or HVAC

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering discipline

  • Professional Engineer (P.E) license

  • Understanding of the A/E/C industry

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Authorization to work in the United States (required)

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, Washington, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Washington and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the starting salary begins around $105,000 a year.
