We are searching for a Staff Nurse - Outpatient - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, educating, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a way that incorporates family-centered care and supporting end-of-life situations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Uses appropriate evidence-based assessment, complex interviewing techniques and instruments related to ambulatory care nursing in collecting pertinent patient, family, or population specific data.
• Collects subjective and objective health status data from multiple sources (patients, caregivers, members of the health care team, documents records, and other relevant sources).
• Prioritizes data collection activities based on the patient's, groups, or population's immediate health need or the nurse's judgment of anticipated patient needs. Synthesizes available data, information, and nursing knowledge relevant to the presenting health situation to identify patterns and variances.
• Prioritizes the data and information collected based on the patient's or population's condition and preferences, the situation, and/or anticipated needs.
• Documents the information and data collected in a retrievable, understandable, and readable format.
• Develops and continuously updates an individualized plan for patients seeking care for health promotion, health maintenance, or health-related situational problems.
• Prioritizes interventions and implements the care plan with the patient, family, caregivers, and other health care professionals promptly.
• Organizes components of the plan and delegate appropriate interventions to care team members based on their demonstrated competency, state practice acts, available evidence-based guidelines, regulatory and governmental standards, and organizational policies with defined outcome measures.
• Educate patients, families, and community. Orients the patient, family, caregiver to the health care delivery system, services, access to care, and available resources.
• Conducts a systematic, ongoing, and criterion-based evaluation of the outcomes of nursing care in relation to the structures and processes prescribed by the plan and the indicated timeline.
• Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients, families, visitors, peers and other healthcare team members to generate a feeling of trust and caring.
• Demonstrates a commitment to continuous lifelong learning and education for self and others. Continuously monitors nursing practice to identify opportunities for improving safety and quality of care.

Skills & Requirements
• Required bachelor's degree in nursing, associate degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement (see comments below) or an associate degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license. Technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement (see comments below). Other Must be currently enrolled in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN. Verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement is required.
• NEW HIRES AND TRANSFERS FROM TCP/TCU OR HP/HPC EFFECTIVE 4/1/19: New hires, current TCP/TCU employee, and HP/HPC employees who enter the role effective 4/1/19 require either (1) a bachelor's degree or (2) an associate degree or technical diploma with current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement to obtain a BSN. TRANSFERS FROM TCH/TWS/TPG EFFECTIVE 4/1/19: Current Texas Children's employees already in RN-required jobs who enter the role effective 4/1/19 require either a bachelor's degree in nursing, an associate degree in Nursing or an associate degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license, or a Technical Diploma in Nursing. EMPLOYEES IN THE JOB PRIOR TO 4/1/19: Current incumbents who were in the job prior to 4/1/19 require either a bachelor's degree in nursing, an associate degree in Nursing or a Technical Diploma in Nursing.
• 1-year Professional nursing experience

o RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact
