Job Description:

We're hunting for a Health Education Specialist, someone who's ready to be part of the best ranked children's hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will develop and implement disease, clinical care process, injury prevention, and/or childhood adversity programs and provide an organized, comprehensive approach for educating healthcare professionals, patient families and the community in a variety of settings.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops, organizes, and implements broad-based health education programs aimed at patient families and community residents.
• Research best practice in programming pertinent to health education in specialty area.
• Develops and updates educational materials used in outreach and educational programs based on appropriate research data.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary clinical programs by engaging internal and external care team members and organizations.
• Develops and promotes patient access to useful, trustworthy information and resources for all socioeconomic and educational levels.
• Works in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders such as physicians, community-based organizations, to ensure proper and accurate messaging to patients and families
• Educates patients and families on opportunities for information and resources such as family advocacy channels and patient and/or parent support groups. Develops tools to track these opportunities and outcomes.
• Coordinates activities, events, camps, and/or support groups for patients and ensures uptake of these activities. Develops approaches, budgets, communication plans, stakeholders, and evaluation strategies for each program.
• Delivers health education and services designed for the betterment of patient families, staff, and community members.
• Creates an infrastructure to support and sustain quality improvement education such as advanced quality improvement.
• Demonstrates commitment to team flexibility, professionalism, and critical thinking.
• Coordinates all aspects associated with assigned projects as needed.

Skills & Requirements
• Required bachelor's degree in in health education or a related field with a preferred master's degree in health education or a related field
