What We Need


Mohawk is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who can do more for all Mohawk brands.

This position offers senior-level support in corporate tax compliance, focusing on the preparation and/or review of international, federal, and state income tax returns, as well as estimated tax payments. In addition, you will play a vital role in various corporate tax projects, encompassing research, modeling, and analysis, such as transfer pricing, tax basis calculations, R&D tax credit, and state nexus analysis.

As part of your responsibilities, you will also assist with tax accounting requirements and reporting, ensuring the monitoring of changes in compliance standards and regulations. This will involve maintaining up-to-date knowledge and implementing necessary adjustments to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Compile and analyze data to create workpapers to support tax filings.
  • Proactively and effectively work with others within the company to gather information.
  • Analyze and understand the information provided.
  • Timely follow-up on outstanding items and questions.
  • Prepare and/or review multiple federal and state income/franchise tax returns. Have a clear understanding of the underlying data and the mechanics of the returns.
  • Ensure that various tax planning strategies are fully implemented.
  • Research income tax laws, monitor income tax law changes, and ensure the Company is always in compliance with the tax laws that are currently in effect.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment focused on improved use of technology.
  • Design and update processes and procedures to streamline tax compliance.
  • Assist with the calculation of GILTI, BEAT, and FDII.
  • Support tax examinations by federal, state, and local tax authorities.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual Forms (e.g., 5471, 1118, 8858) included as part of the Federal Consolidated return.
  • Perform calculations of estimate/extension amounts based on information provided from quarterly provisions.
  • Provide support to team members and perform other duties as assigned.



What You Have




  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA certification is preferred, showcasing your commitment to excellence in the field of taxation.
  • An in-depth understanding of Book-to-Tax Differences (M-1's) and the underlying tax authority behind these differences is essential. You should possess the ability to analyze these variations and navigate the complexities of tax regulations.
  • A strong understanding of income tax returns and financial accounting is crucial. You should be familiar with the intricacies of both areas and be able to effectively reconcile financial statements with tax requirements.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications such as MS Word and Excel is necessary for this role. Additionally, experience with income tax software, specifically OneSource, is highly desirable. Your ability to leverage these tools will greatly contribute to efficient tax preparation and reporting.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience is required, preferably with a national or regional accounting firm or in the tax department of an international, publicly traded corporation.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Perform with limited latitude for independent action and judgment within the framework of the job. Verify work in the context of recommendations for action to the department manager.

  • Familiar with and capable of applying general knowledge in the absence of oral or documented guidelines. This includes understanding and adhering to the departmental procedures, practices, and standards set by the company.
  • Self-starter, able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This means being proactive, motivated, and able to take the initiative to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Be comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
