Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Campus Aide believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. The Campus Aide is responsible for performing regularly scheduled non-classroom supervision duties, supervising students in the hallways, indoor assembly areas, outdoor eating areas, and restrooms, on the playground, and in other areas to which assigned.

What you will need to accomplish:


  • Enforce activity and safety rules in school buildings and on school property

  • Report problems of a serious nature, including recurring behavioral problems and safety hazards to the Principal, or another designated certificated employee

  • Work with the school staff in alleviating behavioral problems occurring during supervision periods

  • Assume responsibilities in inclement weather as assigned by the Principal or other certificated employee

  • Check restrooms in the morning, during breaks, lunch, and after school following PUC Schools restroom policy as assigned

  • Constant movement throughout the school (i.e., eating area, bathroom area, and playground)

  • Walk and stand for at least one-hour increments

  • Perform cleaning duties of school grounds at multiple intervals throughout the day to ensure that campus is free of trash at all times, including the vacating of trash receptacles as assigned

  • Tear down, clean up, and sweep the meal distribution area

  • Assists in custodial duties such as, but not limited to wiping tables and benches in the cafeteria and/or outside eating areas

  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as arranging objects, putting items away, wiping down tables, chairs, work and play areas, equipment, and arranging furniture

  • Support with set up and tear down for school events such as graduations, dances, and school functions (i.e., tables, chairs, canopies, lights, and audios)

  • Support with daily restroom cleaning includes, but is not limited to: Mopping floors, disinfecting high-touch areas, erasing any writing or markings, cleaning sinks, changing trash bags, and cleaning/unclogging toilets.

  • Standard of courtesy and behavior expected of students

  • Maintain acceptable standards of behavior among students

  • Maintain poise, exercise tact, and good judgment

  • Encourage students in games and activities

  • Collaborate and work effectively with school personnel, community representatives, parents, and students

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications


  • Valid First Aid Certificate issued by the Red Cross preferred

  • CPR Certified preferred (will provide training as needed)

Education:


  • High School degree or GED required

Experience:


  • Previous experience working with youth

Skills and Abilities


  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions

  • Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity

  • Must be flexible and team-oriented

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work

  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
