Overview

The role is responsible for developing and implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance across the UK/EU region and alignment with Lutron corporate standards. The incumbent is also accountable for the continued improvement of the management systems that support these objectives and the positive, proactive safety culture that should grow from those systems. This position is based in London with predominant focus on Lutron’s UK operations, which include a distribution center, offices, and an Experience Center. Additionally, this role is the primary source of HSE support for sales and service teams across the region.



Responsibilities

  1. Identify operational and regulatory HSE risks, recommend solutions, and implement actions to ensure any breaches are addressed.
  2. Support and facilitate accident and incident investigations and provide advice on preventive measures to reduce risk.
  3. Responsible for the delivery of company HSE inductions, training, and skills development, including as required for on-site and field staff.
  4. Conduct and report on periodic site inspections and self-audits.
  5. Implement risk management program, including: General Risk Assessment, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Assessment, and Fire Risk Assessment.
  6. Manage a program of corrective/preventive actions to ensure the highest standards in safe working practices are met.
  7. Ensure continual improvement in all health and safety processes.
  8. Provide clear and concise information through reports of Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), incident trends and other key data, to enable management to make effective decisions.
  9. Support external HSE and related audits and regulatory visits.
  10. Educate the teams to understand the legal requirements in work health and safety and actively promote engagement regarding health and safety in the work environment.
  11. Work cross-functionally with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP), site leaders, facility managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that HSE processes are fully deployed and effective.
  12. Identify knowledge or skills gaps in health and safety. Implement plans to ensure competency levels are achieved and maintained.
  13. Deliver presentations and give insight into risk management, as it relates to HSE.
  14. Acquire and maintain organizational knowledge of environmental obligations, and establish processes to ensure unwavering compliance across the entire region.


Qualifications

  1. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively manage multiple issues of concern.
  2. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, including under time constraints.
  3. Strong leadership instincts and skills, with the ability to positively influence individuals and groups without specific authority.
  4. An effective communicator, with the ability to establish trust across a diverse group of colleagues.
  5. Demonstrative passion for safety, as it relates to individuals and organisations.
  6. NEBOSH (National examination Board in occupational safety and health) Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals, or Chartered Member of IOSH (institute of occupational safety and health) required.
  7. Academic Degree in Engineering, Business, or HSE management is required.
  8. Fluent English is essential, proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.
  9. Extensive relevant experience working in a similar role.
  10. In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the region and the ability to translate them into actionable processes and programs.
  11. Internal auditing/management experience with ISO 45001/14001/9001 is a plus.
  12. Ability to travel internationally, approximately 25%, primarily to support Lutron operations in France and Spain.
