Job Description

The role will focus on global Indirect Spend sourcing and will be a member of a team responsible for the sourcing, contracting and supplier management of goods and services. The Indirect Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for Category Management of Indirect spend categories globally with a focus on the following categories: HR, Labor, Corporate Services, and other Indirect Spend categories as assigned.

The Category Manager will act proactively to build strong relationships across different business units and remain current on category market trends, supplier options and procurement best practices. They will execute the strategic vision for ensuring quality, supply, and cost competitiveness. They will communicate, monitor, and aggressively manage the process from concept through completion. Working with business units and suppliers, they will champion a strategic sourcing process that will substantially reduce total costs.

The Category Manager will be responsible for collaborating with internal business stakeholders to understand their requirements and business strategy. They will then develop sourcing and supplier strategies to ensure the right vendors are selected, and quality as well as service levels are met.

This role requires expertise in strategy development and execution, supplier assessment and selection, strong negotiation skills in complex negotiations and strong knowledge of contracts and contract review to identify and highlight any potential risks.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implement and execute the organization’s strategic sourcing initiatives, including supply market analysis, strategy development, supplier consolidation, analysis of bids and quotes, strategic supplier negotiations, contract review and finalization.
  • Manage RFP/RFI’s including requirement gathering, vendor bidding, evaluation process, scoring, final down-selection, and contracting.
  • Contract review and negotiation
  • Manage contract renewals and terminations.
  • Network across the organization. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and develop sourcing strategies which support their business.
  • Know your category and market. Be a resource to stakeholders to make better decisions.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers ensuring they meet quality and service requirements while maintaining competitive costs.
  • Manage supplier selection processes using a data driven approach: market analysis, Request for proposals (RFP’s), Request for Information (RFI’s) and Request for Quote (RFQ’s) and

Experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant deadlines and deliverables.
  • Previous experience working in a multi-national company and able to work and collaborate with counterparts at other global locations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Capable of working with cross functional teams to ensure all project deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment.
  • Highly proficient in excel, word, power point,
  • Quick learner with interest in understanding and applying supplier best practices.
  • Strong influencing skills and change management experience with the ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the proven ability to communicate at all levels including senior and executive management, and global and regional key stakeholders.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making techniques and strong understanding of contracting and negotiating.
  • Innovative, self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must work well under pressure with multiple projects at the same time.
  • Must be able to manage ambiguity and resolve issues quicky and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required and 5+ years’ experience in global indirect procurement, strategy, and contract management.
  • Professional level spoken and written English and ability to understand and propose changes to supplier agreements.
  • Experience managing indirect spend categories at a global level.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Spanish is a plus
