Our Materials Planning team, within our Operations Scheduling organization, is a key function to ensure reliable and predictable supply of raw materials to our manufacturing sites. We focus on developing and managing world class Supply Chain to support Manufacturing requirements, and the Medtronic Mission to help expand access to Quality Healthcare. Material planners are directly involved in effective Purchase Order management, Supplier Forecasting and alignment on delivery commitments from our suppliers. Material Planners collaborate with Strategic Operations Sourcing partners on supplier development activity and process standardization of raw materials supply management tools. They are responsible for ensuring materials inventory goals are achieved and obsolescence is always minimized.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.



    • Performs supply chain and logistics functions such as material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution.
    • Creates integrated processes among internal functions (e.g., operations, purchasing and logistics) and outside suppliers.
    • Plans and analyzes activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.
    • Monitor key sales and operations planning performance indicators, cost-to-serve performance data, and coordinates cross-functional work teams to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives.
    • Supervisor should have an analytical mind and a strong business acumen. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Experience manufacturing and logistics, Strong interaction with the planning area. Reporting to Supply Planning management
    • Coordinate activities of the purchasing team aligned with business objectives and ensure continuity of supply of material availability in support of business plan.
    • Ensure alignment with Medtronic policies in relation to the operation of the Material planning group.
    • Support new product introduction, and Product Life Management (PLM)
    • Support business improvement and cost reduction opportunities including product transfer, local sourcing and strategic sourcing initiatives.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels aligned to target and implement strategic solutions of inventory management.
    • Communicate and interact with other internal departments as needed.
    • Accountable for mentoring, developing and coaching staff performance expectations and defined objectives.
    • Provide leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

  • • SAP APO Advance Knowledge(APO-SNP, ECC MDM-Master Data Maintenance, PPDS, Sourcing)
  • • Strong Analytical Skills
  • • Fluent in English(written and verbal)
  • • Supervisory skills- Supervise team members, providing tactical and / or technical leadership.
  • • Able to receive assignments in task-oriented terms and deliver results according to established procedures.
  • • Ability to establish goals and objectives for a team and able to take decisions that impact project or department schedules.
  • • Ability to make improvements to processes, systems or products.
  • • Share and exchange relevant information to reach solutions and gaining cooperation of other parties.
  • • Understand basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
