IT Group Product Owner – Commercial Data

Elanco is accelerating its transformation into a data-driven organization. This transformation requires new processes, source systems, datasets to ensure quality data is available to both run and transform the business.

The Group Product Owner – Commercial Data is the primary IT point of contact for specific data products and related activities, capabilities, and improvements within Commercial function. They will lead the effort to establish new data products and services within the Enterprise Data Landscape according to our Data Ingestion Data Quality (DIDQ) standards, enhance existing data products and develop partnerships across the Commercial and IT organizations to achieve Elanco’s commercial goals.

This role is the escalation point for issues related to these products and services, as well as the lead for supplier and vendor support services for operational activities.

Role & Responsibilities


  • Own delivery of one or more products and oversight across multiple data product in commercial space


  • Facilitate proactive status, risk, communication management to ensure successful delivery of product


  • Provide guidance in multiple weekly grooming sessions


  • Lead large, complex, and or critical delivery initiatives.


  • Define and prioritize product features in collaboration with the Product Manager and business partners


  • Create and maintain the product backlog, working closely with the development teams to refine and estimate backlog items.


  • Responsible for the creation, review and refinement of User Stories and ensuring that they meet a Definition of Ready


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the development teams, clarifying requirements, answering questions, and providing technical guidance.


  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of high-quality products, defining acceptance criteria, facilitating quality and acceptance tests, and validating product quality.


  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating product updates, progress, changes and addressing concerns or feedback.


  • Continuously seek opportunities for product improvement, closely collaborating with the Product Manager, Data Architect, Product owners and engineers to monitor and analyze product performance, security, and cost measures, and identify areas for optimization.


  • Leverage our enterprise standards for Data Ingestion and Data Quality to the greatest effect.


  • Provide data/infrastructure subject matter expertise and hands-on guidance for data capture, ingestion, curation, and pipeline development on Azure to deliver cloud optimized data solutions.


  • Stay abreast with new and emerging data and infra-operational technologies, tools, methodologies, and patterns on Azure and Google Cloud.


  • Serve as an initial escalation point for any delivery issues that our vendors need assistance to resolve and ensure appropriate communication to stakeholders, as well coach vendors for high performance


  • Manage the list of providers and subscribers to these datasets, ensuring that the list remains current, the content correct and the data usage appropriate.


  • Act as the execution lead for the creation and improvement of data products and services.


  • Act as the System Custodian for all processes related to specific datasets within the Commercial organization.


  • Maintain the Configuration Management Database for managed assets.


  • Support Data Product Owners and drive appropriate consistency across products.


  • Educate stakeholders on product capabilities and insights.


Qualifications


  • Bachelors or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.


  • 7+ years supporting and implementing data platforms, products, and services in increasingly impactful roles.


  • 3+ years engaged in plan, build, and run phases of data pipeline and ETL/ELT solution delivery.


Desired Technical Skills/Experience


  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Data platforms and capabilities including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics


  • Prior experience with Life Sciences Commercial datasets and processes preferred.


  • Ability to lead through influence and elicit requirements from business and IT stakeholders.


  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, global work environment, and the ability to work on multiple time-sensitive initiatives.


  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Delivery Lead, preferably having agile certification and/or real-world experience working in an agile delivery team.


  • Emotional intelligence.


  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.


  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.


  • Previous experience coordinating and/or leading globally distributed remote teams.


  • Experience working in complex, diverse landscapes (business, technology, regulatory, partners, providers, geographies, etc.).


Additional Skills/Experience (Nice to have)


  • Experience in Google Cloud, Google Big Query, Lakehouse concepts


  • Experience in Tableau


Travel:

  • 0-10% of travel
