Senior Accountant at Federal Signal Corporation

Job Description:

Federal Signal is currently hiring a Senior Accountant, responsible for BU-level tax reporting and compliance, intercompany accounting activities and managing the fixed asset accounting process. This person will work on assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative. They will understand implications of work and make recommendations for improvement.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:


  •  Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end sales & use tax filings.

  • Propose and implement of new processes/procedures related to sales & use tax filings and other tax related compliance reports; formally document all new processes/procedures.

  • Implement automated solutions where possible to streamline tax-related tasks enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal sales and use tax regulations, monitoring for changes in tax laws.

  • Coordinate and manage intercompany activity including analyses of accounts to verify proper posting of activity.

  • Maintain all aspects of fixed asset accounting ensuring compliance to corporate policy.

  • Provide information to fulfill internal/external audit requests as required.

  • Support finance team with other ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting/finance field

  • Sales & use tax experience (strongly preferred)

  • Knowledge of Sales/Use tax guidelines and procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret data.

  • Working knowledge of accounting procedures/understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and assertive.

  • Proficiency with MS Office especially Excel.

  • Introductory knowledge of ERP systems (JDE preferred).
