Job Status.................. Full-time Travel..Constant in County, occasional
Work Schedule.40 hours/week. Training out of county
Some extended hours required Monday-Friday-1/2 hour Lunch break

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Foreman, the Truck Driver position entails routine manual work in the operation of dump trucks and semi-trucks for transporting personnel, materials, and equipment. In addition to safely and efficiently operating vehicles, this employee also performs related manual work in loading or handling materials as needed. Close supervision in the form of specific assignments or schedules is received from a superior. A limited amount of road and bridge maintenance work is required.

Essential Function Statement(s)

Pass a post-offer/ pre-employment drug screen and participate in a random drug/alcohol programPossess a valid Kansas Class A Drivers License
Inspect the condition of all vehicles and equipment. Operates a motor vehicle such as a dump truck, semi-truck, or pickup truck in the transportation of personnel or materials. Performs vehicle maintenance activities. Operates move trucks and other related vehicles. Assists in the patchwork of county roads and bridges. Loads materials and performs work-related manual tasks as required. Assists in spreading sand on county roads. Assists in general maintenance of county roads. Complete paperwork concerning work assignments and material hauled. Assists in the installation of signs. Assists in the removal of snow in the winter months.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Assists other Divisions and Departments with Special Projects as requested. Other related duties as necessary or required.

Accuracy- Ability to perform work accurately, safely, and thoroughly. Communication, Oral, and Written- Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and proper writing style in all communication vehicles. Problem Solving- Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: One to three years of truck driving experience. Responsibilities and duties of this position are expected to be acquired within six months to one year.

Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of equipment maintenance. Ability to operate a truck, semi-truck, and other light maintenance vehicles and equipment.

Problem Solving: Problem-solving exists in this position. Problems involve keeping equipment operating properly and determining proper speed for road conditions and potential hazards.

Decision Making: Limited decision making exists in the performance of assigned tasks.

Accountability: Employee is not responsible for budgetary control and does not participate in the annual department budget process.

Supervision: Limited supervision. Job assignments are reviewed by the supervisor. The employee does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Personal Relations: Occasional contact with other county departments and the general public. Constant contact and communication within the crew assignment.

Working Conditions: Manual labor and physical effort are required. Extreme weather conditions are factors in this position.
