Position Purpose

The position is responsible for all aspects of buying and purchasing products to include negotiating cost with vendors and suppliers, seeking new product opportunities, and maintaining existing business accounts, and working closely with ReStore managers to ensure compliance of adequate inventory measures and controls.

Essential Functions


  1. Sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors/donors. 

  2. Perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers 

  3. Cycle Count Training for all members of management

  4. Create inventory counts for ReStores and manage compliance. Train and implement techniques as needed to control measures. 

  5. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness 

  6. Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms including purchasing

  7. Assess, manage and mitigate risks 

  8. Seek and partner with reliable vendors, suppliers, and donors. 

  9. Determine quantity and timing of deliveries, and coordinate with ReStore staff 

  10. Monitor ReStores stock levels and forecast upcoming levels of demand 

  11. Comparison shop the competition to determine price points and products demand 

  12. Monitor product demands and eliminate non-productive inventory 

  13. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for customers, employees and volunteers 

  14. Assist in ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service 

  15. Regular and reliable job attendance 

  16. Adhere to schedule  

  17. Maintain a presentable appearance, including ReStore appropriate attire 

  18. Ability to adhere to Habitats Code of Conduct policies and other policies 

  19. Dependable transportation to work  

  20. Key and Alarm code holder  

  21. Habitat Charlotte related tasks as requested by supervisor 

Qualifications


  1. BS Degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration preferred (or equivalent combination of work experience/education)

  2. Valid drivers license and dependable transportation

  3. Proven working experience as a purchasing coordinator or manager

Skills and Abilities


  • Vendor/Supplier negotiating skills

  • Ability to read, count, and accurately complete reports and all end of day documentation

  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures 

  • Solid judgment along with decision making skills 

  • Strong leadership capabilities 

  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management 

  • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense

Work Environment

This position requires working in a variety of conditions, including retail stores, warehouse/dock, and driving between locations.

Physical Demands


  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time  

  • Ability to move merchandise throughout the store, 50-60 lbs with assistance  

  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation 

  • Ability to work flexible schedule, some nights and weekends 

  • Ability to be Forklift Certified

Estimated Time Commitment: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday schedule.
