General Purpose:


The Staff Accountant is responsible for all data input and maintenance of on-time accurate payables to John Deere. Ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded is a must in this high-volume data input position. The Staff Accountant reports to the General Ledger Lead.

Essential Functions:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Processes all parts invoices and accounting administration for John Deere.

  • Reconciles and balances parts freight and pallets.

  • Files necessary paperwork and scans paperwork into electronic accounting system.

  • Forwards invoices to appropriate associate or manager for receipt and/or payment discrepancies.

  • Assigns accurate codes to John Deere Sales Center invoices.

  • Makes necessary corrections and/or adjustments to receive accurate report information.

  • Records routine and recurring transactions.

  • Cross-train with others in the Accounting Department to backup other positions as necessary.

  • Communicates with others in the organization to answer accounting questions or resolve issues.

  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AgriVision Equipment Group and PrairieLand Partners (AVE-PLP, LLC).

  • PC skills utilizing Windows applications (especially Word and Excel) as well as ability to learn other accounting software systems.

  • Knowledge of accounting systems.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.

Education:



  • An Associate degree in accounting or related field is required.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is preferred.

Experience:



  • Two or more years of experience as an accountant or bookkeeper is required.

  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process is required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:


  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.

  • Moderate physical activity required by moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
