POSITION OVERVIEW


The Staff / Senior Accountant, Tax reports to the Supervisor, Tax and is responsible for preparation of the quarterly income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 and preparation of certain book-tax differences.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Preparation of quarterly income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.

  • Preparation of income tax journal entries and corresponding monthly account reconciliations.

  • Preparation of quarterly corporate alternative minimum tax calculation.

  • Preparation of certain book-tax differences including 162(m) executive compensation, revenue recognition, derivatives, lease accounting, etc. 

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly slide decks for executive management.

  • Preparation of effective tax rate analysis and documentation of key tax rate drivers

  • Manage and maintain global income tax provision in Corptax provision tax software.

  • Assist with financial statement disclosures for tax matters, including drafting the income tax footnote.

  • Assist with tax basis balance sheet reconciliation.

  • Preparation of federal and state return to provision. 

  • Preparation of federal and state income tax estimated payments.

  • Preparation of key control documentation for purposes of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

  • Support timely delivery of workpapers and documentation required for external audits.

  • Support process improvement initiatives to streamline and increase efficiencies.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 


Knowledge:



  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and other US GAAP financial accounting concepts.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax law and principles.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

  • Experience with Corptax Provision, Oracle, Hyperion, and SharePoint a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and demands with a high degree of accuracy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 




  • Education, Training and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, or actively in pursuit of licensure is preferred. Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, or closely related field is also a plus. 


  • Experience:

    • Staff: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tax accounting provision and/or tax compliance.

    • Senior: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in tax accounting provision and/or tax compliance.

WORK CONDITIONS 



  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.

  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
