The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Automation/Robotics Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Leading automation projects including new equipment as well as upgrading current assets to improve quality and productivity.

  • Leading selection of hardware and software along with machine installation and commissioning.

  • Driving alignment and communication with corporate automation teams.

  • Supporting plant engineering technicians through training and project leadership.

  • Driving continuous improvement activities around equipment and automation in the plant to improve performance.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree/Technical Diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institute AND five (5) years of experience working with machine controls and or robot programming in a private, public, government or military environment.

-OR-

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND three (3) years of experience working with machine controls and or robot programming in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years of project management including developing timelines and establishing capital budgets in a private, public, government or military environment.

  • Experience with Rockwell Automation.

  • Experience programming Fanuc and Kuka robots.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes, responds with a sense of urgency.

Work location:

  • Prairie du Chien, WI

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $115,607 - $141,298, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
