The Ascend Learning Healthcare Segment leads the way in innovation and solution creation to improve outcomes and deliver results for students, educators, and healthcare workers in the ever-changing field of healthcare. WHAT YOU'LL DO


The psychometric team at Innovative Learning Sciences expertly crafts psychometrically-sound products, ensuring valid test administration, best reporting practices, and precise assessment-based outcomes. As an associate psychometrician, this role conducts psychometric analyses in support of product development to ensure the validity of scores provided to clients. The associate psychometrician not only engages in operational psychometric tasks but also supports the creation and execution of research studies focused on efficacy and validity, as well as other research types that enhance the intended use of our assessments and provide evidence supporting product claims.

This position offers the flexibility to work remote within the continental United States.


HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME



  • Conduct psychometric analyses and interpretation of results using classical test theory, item response theory, equating, and standard setting methods.

  • With supervision, contribute to various research agendas that aim to improve fairness, validity, and efficacy in our assessments and learning products.

  • With supervision, provide technical responses to internal and external inquiries on our assessments and learning products.

  • With supervision, analyze, research, and propose solutions to current and future measurement problems, and communicate those solutions effectively.

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of operational work procedures, as well as contributing to various initiatives aimed at improving processes and enhancing quality assurance.

  • Document and disseminate research findings via presentations or publications.

  • Complete other statistical tasks as assigned.



    WHAT YOU'LL NEED



    • Doctoral degree (or near completion) in educational measurement, psychometrics, industrial/organizational psychology, or a closely related field.

    • Expertise in the computer programming language (SAS or R) is required.

    • Experience using statistical analysis software (Winsteps, psychometric packages in R).

    • Experience with MS Office products (Teams, Excel, Power Point, Word).

    • Experience working with adult education organizations, certification programs, or within the health care industry is desirable.

    • Understanding of concepts central to psychometrics: classical test theory, item response theory, item analysis, differential item functioning, equating, and standard setting.

    • Understanding of concepts central to quantitative and qualitative research: descriptive statistics, survey design/analysis, multiple regression, and longitudinal analysis.

    • Excellent presentation, organizational, time management, customer service skills with attention to details and deadlines.

    • Ability to conduct routine psychometric operational works and manage long-term work schedules with minimum supervision.

    • Ability to communicate technical psychometric concepts orally and in writing to all customer bases, including non-technical audiences.

    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to problem-solve and find solutions for product development and for client (internal and external) service issues.

    • Ability to compose manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals under supervision.

    • Ability to work remotely, but effectively as a member of a team.
