Job Description:

B&W seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, and engaged Quality Assurance/Controls Specialist - Solar that will be responsible for quality development, implementation and execution activities for the Solar and BESS power facilities we are engaged in constructing. She / he will be working closely with Operations and Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, Construction partners and others to implement the best-in-class quality management and execution system. The candidate will be responsible for Solar Quality Processes and system commissioning using established and innovative quality and engineering practices while focusing on continuous improvement practices. Implements and achieves Quality Management System standards.


  • Administers the framework of B&W's Global Quality Management Systems and the implementation of B&W Solar's Policies and Procedures which provide the tools necessary to ensure predictable, repeatable and "Best in Class" performance.
  • Align with Corporate Quality on KPI's and reporting.
  • Establishes and Lead project site quality engineering for all projects
  • Implements field failure analysis capabilities providing relevant information to all stakeholders within the company
  • Participate in Customer Program Review meetings, Weekly Operations and Management Meetings, Quality Staff meetings
  • Prepare product assurance certification paperwork to support acceptance of deliverables and data packages
  • Report on the state of quality including equipment, field construction, customers, etc. to management using dashboards to develop, analyze, and communicate QA/QC performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure QC personnel are properly and effectively trained to support inspection activities
  • Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Manage Quality Events and Corrective actions (including punchlish identification and closeout process)
  • Manage and resolve issues with and without guidance from the project manager and superintendent
  • Maintains project site's readiness in anticipation of internal and external audits
  • Implement field failure analysis capabilities, lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts
  • These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Construction, civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent field
  • A Technical Degree, BS (EE/ME/Mfg.) is desirable
  • 7 years' experience in the design, engineering, or construction industry; with experience leading a project's in the areas of Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • Prior experience in implementation and maintenance of QMS (ISO/IATF, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability supporting QA/QC Solar staffing and managing a wide range of diverse and complex projects across multiple territories
  • Established client relationships within the utility, industrial, and oil and gas market sectors is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully work both in team environment and independently, with minimum supervision, under the guidance of the General Manager and Director of Corporate QA while directly supporting the Area Construction Manager and Project Management Teams.
  • Working knowledge of NBIC, ASME,AWS, ISO and other Federal, State, and Local Regulatory Agencies including demonstrated experience successfully navigating audit / inspection processes.
  • Knowledgeable in pressure part and structural steel welding / fabrication.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data management software.
  • Solution minded, self-starter, goal oriented, quality focused, with a high degree of integrity and demonstrated success creating and fostering a team environment.
  • Exceptional organization, data management, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Effective communication, influencing, & coaching skills with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness and ability to provide 24/7 on call support including travel to other office and jobsite locations across the US and the region.
