SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant, Fuels is responsible for performing highly specialized, professional level, accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for financial reporting, audits, and supporting strategic financial planning for the organization.
  • Exercise strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and extensive knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Perform statistical, cost, and financial analysis of financial reports and data, and prepare summaries for management.
  • Recommend cost improvement measures to the business unit teams based on analysis.
  • Interpret data to determine past financial performance and/or to project financial probability.
  • Develop financial reports to determine forecasts, trends, and results.
  • Engage in monthly rolling forecasts working closely with internal business unit teams.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance activities including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a progressively responsible accounting role.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel in addition to advanced proficiency with accounting systems, such as Oracle.

COMPENTENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Knowledge of basic accounting principles such as payables, receivables, and accruals. Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to finance and accounting. Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, budgeting, and administrative management.

OTHER: CPA preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
