As a Product Design Engineer for Genesis Products, you will be a member of an innovative culture where creativity and problem solving is a part of the everyday growth process. The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for creating 3D CAD designs and detailed, 2D specification drawings. Initial programming for all new parts programs and revisions. As well as coordinating and occasionally executing the prototype and production sample builds corresponding to those drawings. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, this role requires fluency in AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D modeling and CNC tool-path software AlphaCAM. The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency is required.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the design and development of new and current products
Responsible for creating 2D & 3D CAD designs and detailed drawings
Programming 3-axis routers
Provide support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design
Supply information for products quotes, coordinate with vendors and make engineering drawings, as required, to facilitate changes in production
Evaluate proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility, on the product and process prior to incorporation
Develop and improve engineering standards
Develop and maintain procedures/processes which support the Sales team and new customers
Interface with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions
Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings/production orders
Fluency in AutoCAD, Inventor and AlphaCAM
Familiarity with CNC operation and woodworking a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills
Willingness to be hands-on with materials and processes to learn and adapt
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, to work with others in a team environment and to give/receive feedback
Ability to inspect parts for compliance upon execution of programs
Capable of using calipers and other precision measuring instruments
