JOB SUMMARY:

Vertex Inc, is the trusted leader in tax technology, delivering the best tax solutions to the businesses across the globe. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to function as a dedicated processing assistant to support the efforts of the Managed Services Outsourcing (MSO) team. You will be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and timely on-line sales and use tax (SUT) filings and payments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the tax team in preparing SUT tax returns and other required documents using tax software systems


• Collaborate with MSO team members to assist in the submission of returns and payments


• Enter and manage data with utmost accuracy ensuring all information is correct and up to date


• Participate in other projects or duties such as preparing and filing new jurisdictional sales tax registrations for clients


• Track and respond to notices from taxing jurisdictions, ensuring proper documentation and timely resolution

• Must manage time and priorities effectively by completing tasks in a timely manner.


• Must be detailed and results oriented


• Must be able to work under tight monthly deadlines, with strong organizational skills


• Ability to display sound judgment and problem solve issues


• Ability to work independently on routine work, with more guidance on new projects or assignments


• Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships


• Ability to follow detailed practices and procedures in order to resolve issues


• Comfortable communicating with clients and tax jurisdictions

• Associate degree in accounting, finance or equivalent experience a plus


• Proficient in Microsoft applications


• Internet savvy
