Warehouse Employee - Sr Checker Rec/Mate at Federal Signal Corporation

Job Description:

Federal Signal is currently looking for a Senior Checker Receiving. This position performs duties to unload trucks, move materials, store materials, supplies, parts, and components in bin or work cell locations. Must be able to fill out proper paperwork and make computer transactions to generate receivers. Responsible for accuracy of inventory received compared to the packing slips sent with product from vendor. 8:00 Am - 4:30 PM.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Performs all warehouse receiving and shipping activities including, but not limited to: picking, packing,receiving, putting away supplier/customer orders and intercompany transfers, unloading trucks andsafety/operational inspection of power tool and mobile equipment.

  • Operate material control system devices including but not limited to computer programs and wirelessscanners.

  • Detects and reports any discrepancies (e.g. shortages, overages, damages, etc.) of incoming material.

  • Resolves discrepancies with any incoming material documentation with respective parties (e.g.,purchasing, inventory control, accounts payable, etc.)

  • Must be able to use and understand various computer screens to check a part’s bin location, checkstatus of material (identify part number, PO numbers, part destination, etc.) figure splits of productionparts, remove items in suspense and enter vendor performance codes.

  • Move material to appropriate area throughout the warehouse and document these movements inaccordance with established procedures.

  • Verifies identity, quantity, and condition and records or calls attention to shortages, defective ordamaged material.

  • Trains new and existing employees to effectively work within the department and receiving dockoperations.

  • Follows safety rules/regulations and keeps work area(s) in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education, Skills, and Work Experience:



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience with computers and wireless handheld warehouse system experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years material handling and warehouse experience preferred.

  • Ability to operate various types of fork trucks.

  • Ability to use hand/power tools and other material handling equipment.

  • Ability to use a computer and web-based software.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow verbal/written work instructions.


PPE Requirements:



  • Safety glasses

  • Hearing protection

  • Steel-toe boots and/or ESD Equipment

  • Gloves
