As a Professional Services Engineer for VALOR ( VIAVI Automated Lab-as-a-Service for Open RAN) you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling lab usage and providing technical support and guidance to lab users, including troubleshooting and resolving issues associated with the lab equipment . You will also conduct professional testing services (TaaS) focused on 5G/ O-RAN domain. You will collaborate with VIAVI R&D test and software development to install / upgrade / maintain the Lab equipment, associated software and testing scripts, including integration with 3rd party equipment, DUTs, and SUTs.
Job responsibilities:
Assist with , involved in the design of the lab and test infrastructure, ensuring connectivity, performance and security, as well as monitor and evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements to enhance and optimize lab capabilities and efficiency.
Install / upgrade / maintain the LAB Automation and on prem cloud infrastructure
Install / upgrade / maintain VALOR equipment , specifically VIAVI 5G / O-RAN test equipment VIAVI NITRO Wireless , including reference DUTs/SUTs from 3rd party vendors.
Provide technical support to lab customers ( LaaS ) , including troubleshooting, resolving lab related issues, including assistance with interpreting results
Generate Aggregated Test Reports
Conduct Professional Testing Services (TaaS ) focused on O-RAN conformance, performance, interoperability, scale, E2E and security.
10 years' experience as a Professional Services Engineer or FAE ( Field Applications Engineer ) in the Telecommunications Industry, preferably at a TELCO NEM with RAN focus or a T&M company
OS Proficiency - Linux (Ubuntu/Debian).
Good Understanding of Networking Concepts IP, UDP, TCP, SCTP
Linux scripting: Shell scripting, Python.
Experience in working with Virtualization technologies such as:
KVM, ESXI
Private and Public Cloud – RHOSP. Windriver, AWS,GCP
Must have demonstrable knowledge of mobile network protocols, services and applications used by mobile operators and network equipment manufacturers
L4-L7 Application protocols, OSI Model and common routing and switching protocols
Good knowledge of 3GPP Telecommunications protocols, e.g., 3G/4G/5G Application Protocols
Strong knowledge of Telecom Network topologies, components and architectures.
Demonstrates the use of consulting skills, including: questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing.
Ability to conduct / lead technical meetings with Lab customers on small to medium sized engagements.
Owns and produces aggregated Lab testing reports including VIAVI and 3rd party equipment
Ability to translate verbal requirements from face-to-face customer meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and LaaS and TaaS proposals
Able to discuss requirements with a customer, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high-level test plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver.
Previous hands on experience working with network elements from companies like Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, Samsung, Mavenir is a plus
Ability to work in a cross functional environment with R&D, Solutions Development, PMO across multiple time zones.

Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Computer Science / Telecommunications or related area of study.
AWS or GCP Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional ) Certification a plus
Excellent oral and written communications skills required, along with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Tools and Technologies:
Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.), and others
Knowledge and experience with test automation tools such as Jenkins, Robot or similar.
Previous experience with relevant testing tools from companies like VIAVI, Keysight, Spirent
