Job Summary:

Supervises the daily activities of a production area to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. Monitors production activity, identifies process problems, troubleshoots causes and develops solutions. Suggests improvements to improve efficiencies or safety. Delivers or coordinates staff training and on-boards new staff. Supervises staff to ensure that all production tasks are performed, and all equipment operates safely; prepares production reports. Supervises a team of 20+/- team members and focuses on mentoring and coordination.


Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000


Responsibilities:

·       Demonstrated ability to lead a team - train, coach, mentor, and counsel



  • Strong safety orientation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies - Lean, Six Sigma, 6S, or other disciplines

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work independently as well as the ability to coordinate activities with different departments.

  • Ensures that all processing activities are in conformance with product specifications.

  • Verify, control, and assure that all production parameters are within the planned cost.

  • Serve as a liaison between Department Managers and Hourly Employees.

  • Responsible for assessing the needs and providing training to employees and documenting training.

  • Responsible for conducting monthly safety and quality sessions as required and keeping adequate documented records.


·       Resolve team conflict and issue documented disciplinary actions and recognition.



  • Accountable for ensuring that all safety policies and regulations are enforced.

  • Responsible for safety training, enforcement of safety rules/policies.

  • Develops short and mid-range strategies/goals for operational performance excellence. Works with plant leadership on the development of long-range strategies/goals.

  • Participate in and have a working knowledge of continuous improvement initiatives and other production-enhancing processes. Coach and mentor, these principles down to the shop floor.

  • Supervise daily shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow.

  • Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed.

  • Provide required data and reporting to support departmental metrics and improvement objectives.

  • Collaborate with other production and engineering teams to develop and implement manufacturing cost reduction and efficiency improvement measures.

  • Identify training needs with the team and develop training programs so that the team continually grows in technical proficiency, monitor labor hours, overtime, and attendance to implement improvement plans where necessary.


·       Work with other departments in the organization to create a cohesive atmosphere in which lines of communication are open and generate profitable results.

















Work Experience:

·       Typically requires 5+ years’ experience in the related area as an individual contributor.


·       Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.

  • Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office.
























Education Requirements:


  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of production experience in a manufacturing plant is required.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in production is required.

  • Experience in manufacturing supervisory role with a proven track record in leading manufacturing teams.

  • Bilingual Spanish / English required.


Physical Job Requirements:



·       Noise levels in the work environment can be moderate to high.


·       The plant facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.). 


·       Chemicals, dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere of the production floor and may create some odors in the plant. The Company, in an effort to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls and PPE.


·       While some chemical may pose health risks if not properly used, employees are trained on the proper safety equipment and procedures for handling chemicals.

·       Hazards - Exposure to Chemicals/Fumes, Pinch Points, Exposure to Excessive Noise, Strain/Sprain, Laceration/Puncture, Particulate Exposure, Contusion, Temperature Extremes, Slipping, Burns, Shock, Loss of Limbs.


·       Controls - Personal Protective Equipment, Safety Training, Written Procedures.


·       Safety Equipment – Hard hat, back belt, safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots, cut resistant gloves, cut resistant outerwear, other equipment as dictated by the specific department.
