About the Role

Essity Health and Medical Solutions is currently seeking a Capabilities Leader at our manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, KY.

What You Will Do

Manufacturing Excellence and improvement process


  • Accountable for implementation of the Operator Centric way of working;

  • Interact with other sites and global teams regarding Manufacturing Excellence, for alignment and implementation of enablers that contribute to the CBN, as well as the best practices sharing to ensure that standards are effective and are delivering the expected results;

  • Facilitate and promote networking inside and outside the plant;

  • Interact, develop and coach process and Enabler owners to ensure performance improvement are achieved from the implementation and execution;

  • Focus and drives the Manufacturing Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives (i.e. Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Continuous Improvement (CI) and Six-Sigma) to Site’s Objectives and goals;

  • Proactively promotes and gives follow up to the consistent implementation of Hygiene Manufacturing Excellence (HMEx) initiatives, according to the defined master plan, and business and Site’s priorities;

  • Ensures Site’s systems are in place, standardized and are aligned with Manufacturing Excellence principles;

  • Lead and drive the Health Check system and culture in the site;

  • Provides transparency to the management team about progress on both enablers and capability development;

  • Review with management team the efficiency of the system and assess if it is delivering the expected improvement in the performance results, identify actions to realign if necessary;

  • Gives feedback to Ops Manager about opportunity areas in leadership and systems for continuous improvement;

  • Coordinate  awards and recognitions regarding Manufacturing Excellence.

Safety, Health & Environmental


  • Is a role model on Safety: knows and applies safety policy and procedures;

  • Applies the behaviors and standards on Safety defined by Essity;

  • Understands, applies and support the implementation of Safety enablers in collaboration with Quality Risk Environmental Health and Safety (QRESH) Manager;

  • Detect and report unsafe behaviors and conditions.

Process capabilities development


  • In collaboration with Process/Enabler owners, Training Coordinator, and HR manager identify strategy and develop plan necessary to the implementation of HMEX program and enablers;

  • Drive and build development, train and coach leaders within operations in the HMex tools, and assess these via health checks;

  • Support and advice Management team and line management on how to improve the structure of capability development, through sharing, learning and reapplication of best practices;

  • Promote and support the implementation of eLearning.

Operation


  • Transfers knowledge and capabilities to HMEx pillars in their activities’ planning and execution;

  • Drive rigor and discipline related to standards;

  • Ensure capability development roadmaps and skills matrices for new operators, young engineers, trainees and continuous learning paths for all other personnel in operations are in place, used and activities documented;

  • Support Product Supply and HMex initiatives by providing learning opportunities for people and participate actively in initiatives (PE School, EDN). Provides support and guidance to Plant Leadership in Essity agreed topics and trainings to the target audience;

  • Communicate updates in central material to the organization and update links in skills matrices;

  • Support Global Hygiene Supply (GHS) HMEX group in developing structures and systems to be applied across all sites;

  • Actively networks with the factories in Personal Care and supports application of agreed standards;

  • Supports shared training sessions between the sites. Eg. Essity PCE school content to all factories.

  • Introduce best practices in Change management and can engage people in the change process;

  • Contribute to generate an environment oriented to trust, open communication and teamwork;

  • Able to overcome barriers and support people to deliver expected targets;

  • Respects, applies and promotes the Code of Conduct.

Who You Are


  • Major or bachelor degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, chemical, industrial, etc.) or related area;

  • 3 + years of experience in manufacturing environment; with prior experience in a leadership role preferred;

  • Strong knowledge of business and technical tools and practices related to Manufacturing Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, TPM or other continuous improvement tools;

  • Practical experience and proven results driving continuous improvement principles and achieving targets.
